SPICY KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN RECIPE

Fyi, Koreans won’t use rice when eating fried chicken (if you know most Asians will use rice when eating fried chicken). In their culture fried chicken is used as snacks or complementary foods when drinking soju. So this is a basic recipe for making Korean fried chicken and of course with the spicy sensation, please try it!

SPICY KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN RECIPE

Ingredients:

FRIED CHICKEN

  • 1kg chicken
  • 1tsp garlic paste (optional)
  • 1/2tsp ginger paste (optional)
  • ½cup cornstarch
  • ¼cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼cup sweet rice flour
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1tbsp black pepper
  • 1tsp baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 6cup oil

SPICY KOREAN SAUCE

  • 1tbs oil
  • 2tsp garlic paste
  • 1/3cup ketchup
  • 1/3cup corn syrup
  • 1/4cup gochujang or chili paste
  • 1tbsp apple vinegar
  • 2tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Prepare chicken that has been cut, washed and dried
  2. Add garlic, ginger, salt, black pepper, mix well and let stand for 30 minutes
  3. After 30 minutes, heat the oil to fry the chicken
  4. While waiting for hot oil, add corn flour, flour, sweet rice flour, baking soda, egg, and mix well
  5. After the oil gets hot, fry the chicken for 10 minutes, remove and drain (don’t eat it because it’s not perfectly cooked)
  6. Now make the sauce, use the oil to saute garlic, add ketchup, corn syrup, chili paste, vinegar, mix well, turn off the flame
  7. re-fry the chicken until it is fully cooked, lift and put on the sauce, mix well, add toasted sesame seeds, mix well again, and serve
