HOW TO MAKE JAPANESE SHRIMP TEMPURA RECIPE

Ingredients:

  • 500gr White Shrimp
  • 1 Egg Yolk
  • 1 Ice Cube
  • 125gr or 1/2 Cup Water
  • 60gr or 1/2 Cup Wheat Starch (Measured Loosely)
  • Flour
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil
  • Tempura Soy Sauce

Instructions:

  1. Peel of the skin, open a small cut with knife and take out the vein
  2. Gently slice a few small cuts on the belly of the shrimp, then turn it over and flatten it
  3. Let’s make a batter, in the bowl add egg yolk, water and wheat starch, mix well
  4. Heat up the vegetable oil, add a little bit of sesame oil, the temperature of the oil is important, 360°f or 180°c
  5. On the plate, add flour, coat shrimp with flour
  6. Drop some batter in the oil, then dip the shrimp in the batter
  7. Then use the shrimp to stick to batter that has been fried earlier
  8. After the shrimp is in the oil, try not to stir again, the second shrimp is the same method
  9. Don’t fry the shrimp for too long, when you see a little pale yellow and a little crisp outside, you can take it out
  10. Before each frying, remove the remaining fried batter
  11. Fried vegetable are the same, but you don’t need to fry the batter in advance, directly fried vegetable can have a very crisp outside layer
